Skulls are the subject of my exhibition.
There are three works I would like to include in the display:
- "Face Off" (above) is a sculpture of two life size skulls, these are both knitted in pure 8ply knitting wool stretched over paper mache' moulds. The two skulls will be placed on a plinth (770mm height) facing each other. If possible they will be inside a vitrine (covered museum case). I will make two tiny fabric labels made to look aged, a small amount of information will be sewn onto the cloth and attached to each skull, will give an impression similar to actual museum pieces.
- "Hankie Head" an assemblage of various sized skulls, mostly rather small, approx 7mm to 17mm, shaped from torn pre-used handkerchiefs flour paste was used to form the skull shapes. A collection of these skulls will be placed around a negative shape of a large skull ( unsure of size at this time).
- "Cranial Collapse" sheer curtain fabric will be hung from near the ceiling of the exhibition space, to touch the floor. Tissue paper has been machine sewn onto the fabric in the shape of skulls, these will be seen from both sides of the work.
